Hi and welcome!
This time my family took a short vacation to Macau via Hong Kong. We did not want to fly to Macau directly and hence the transit in Hong Kong. We would be flying SQ860. A few days before flying, another Flight - Reporter Maverick0805 has also done a FR on the exact same flight so do check his too!
We woke up at 5.30am and then took a taxi to the airport. The terminal we would be leaving is Terminal 3, which is one of the best terminals in Changi.
We did our online check-in the day before and it was a quick self - check in. Did SQ remove all their counter check in staffs? I did try finding it but I could not find it.

After checking in was checking in our bags! The whole process was swift and easy. We were ready to enter airside within 10 minutes from stepping into the airport. #Changiefficiency

After 2 minutes of immigration and customs, we were thrown in the airside of Changi. T3 still looks awesome I must say.

With plenty of time to spare (our flight was leaving at 8.40am but I'm sure we were at airside near 7am), I first went to spot some planes and I did manage to find some nice pictures. Changi does their final inspection of carry on luggages at the gate so it's hard to take picture of planes and it was in the morning so the lighting was not in favour but I still tried heehee.
Starting from the really bad pics:
SQ A380 (9V-SKI) and A330 (9V-STZ) - These two flights would be flying to Hong Kong as SQ860 and SQ856 respectively. My flight was SQ860, and my friend's flight (he was flying to Hong Kong on the same day too) was SQ856. Kinda sad that we did not manage to meet each other :(

Another view of our planes

On the other side we had a SQ B772 (9V-SVE) and SQ A380

I decided to take a rest and head to the Butterfly Garden. Thankfully the butterflies gave me enough face and stopped once in a while to let me take good pictures of them :)

Changi is really an awesome terminal. As a Singaporean I feel very proud whenever I walk past Changi :D

Another SQ A380 parked at Gate B5, and I happened to have an acceptable picture of it.

9V-SVE (as seen previously) leaving Changi. Have a safe flight!

Thanks for showing me your but…. I mean back.

Now all that's left is the A380

Scooting past Shanghai

Time check: 7.33am. Gate B2 is open!

Time to head to B2! When clearing the final inspection for carry on luggages I have learnt something: Never join the queue with families. Sobz.

While sitting inside B2.

And soon it was our turn to board!

There's 9V-SKI!

A closer pic of 9V-SKI

The Shanghai Airlines plane that was seen earlier.

Flight details:
Plane registration: 9V-SKI (SG50 Livery)
ETD: 8.40am
ATD: 9.00am
Altitude: 32000 ft -> 36000 ft
ETA: 12.40pm
ATA: 12.27pm
Entering the lovely 9V-SKI.

We entered 9V-SKI, walked past Premium Economy class to Economy. The flight was full. Both PEY and Y was full. No wonder SQ can afford to send an A380 up daily to Hong Kong. Something worth noting was that there were many westerners in business suits on the flight.
When selecting the seats online, I decided to sit at the front of economy class for the sake of my family (because the turbulence is worse behind). It was a wrong choice. LOOK AT THAT VIEW. I felt like I have wasted $$$. Just avoid seat 45A at all cost LOL.

No SQ, this is unacceptable.

SQ Silverkris entertainment system.

The pilot came on the PA system and told us our flight route (departing south of Changi before making a U-turn). Did the formalities, doors closed and armed, and off we went!
Spot the Changi

The seat's pitch. Quite generous I must say.

When taking off, the pilot made a u-turn so the whole Eastern side of Singapore could be seen.

The seat's view was really bad so I just gave up completely.
After the seatbelt signs went off, I started to find some songs to listen. SQ completely lost it. The songs were not updated and the older songs just couldn't make it. I was honestly quite disappointed with SQ when it came to the songs. So I decided to watch a movie…

The meal service took quite a long time this time round due to turbulence. The crew could be seen rushing through their service, which I do not blame them. However, the crew was not up to my expectation. It seemed like they forgot to bring their smiles out to work. It was not rude or whatsoever, but it felt very robotic and "I'm done with my work" kind of attitude. It could be also cause it as a 8.40am flight on such a huge plane so…
Anyways, here's the brunch! I had the chance to try both:
The Western option (Scrambled Eggs with Chicken Sausage, Glaced tomato and hash brown potato)

The Asian option (Braised Egg Noodle with seafood and black mushroom)

As someone who hates noodles, I have to say that the noodles was a lot better than the egg. The egg was tasteless, hash brown was soggy, it was terrible. On the other hand, the noodle was nice with a generous amount of seafood and mushroom. SQ what happened to your catering sigh…
The desert (Chocolate Duo Parfait) was nice. The chocolate could be felt and it was an acceptable desert.
After the meal, I decided to just take a rest and not do much (because the view outside was lovely) and the entertainment system was great.
By great I meant…

Every single time I take a SQ plane with this entertainment system (the 2006 one), this always happens. I dont know if it's because of my hands or the entertainment system.
The flight path. Notice the sudden change of direction in the plane. It was due to the bad weather which resulted in the turbulence.

Landing into Hong Kong. When we were on our landing approach, the pilot came onto the PA system and said that the passengers on the left (where my side was) could see Kai Tak airport. GREAT. Such a great chance to spot a historical airport ruined because of the seat I chose….

Touchdown into Hong Kong International Airport, with a Korean Air plane leaving back to Incheon.

A final look at our plane.

As I was transiting to Macau and we missed our ferry, we had 3 hours of free time in the arrivals side. We could not go up to the departures and it was honestly quite boring. There were only 2 restaurants and seats. I could not even walk around and plane spot….
This was the only plane I saw.

And with this, I conclude my flight report on SQ860. Feel free to comment and ask! :D
Thank you for the report. I absolutely agree with you that SIA's service is very inconsistent nowadays. Some flights they look like they are just there to do their job, some flights they look passionate about their job. I guess if it was a short Sin-Cgk flight, I could accept a little rushed service but no excuses for a 3h+ SIN-HKG flight.
Hi!
Thanks for reading this report! :D
My flight back had a slightly better service so yeah it does show the inconsistency.
Thank you for sharing this nice report, i really appreciate your fairly conclusion about SQ, SIN, and HKG. And surely, I will wait your return trip to SIN
