Welcome to the third installment of my trip reports for the journey between Colombo and Bahrain via Doha.
1. Qatar Airways QR665 CMB-DOH Airbus A340-600 - http://flight-report.com/en/report-14013.html
2. Qatar Airways QR1110 DOH-BAH Boeing 787-8 - http://flight-report.com/en/report-14015.html
3. Qatar Airways QR1107 BAH-DOH Airbus A320 - You are here.
After spending three nights in Bahrain, it was time for us to go back to our country. We reached the airport two and half hours ahead of departure. Aircraft for this sector was listed as an A320 in my ticket and I hoped for something special!?
Gulf Air HQ.
Entrance for passengers other than ones flying Gulf Air.
We passed the security and headed for check-in and there were only two or three people in the queue in front of us.
Check-in was quick and efficient.
After clicking few snaps we went towards the immigration.
Immigration was again done efficiently and after a quick security screening, we reached airside in no time.
Few pics taken in airside.
Our gate was No. 17 and we headed that way….
Lufthansa A333 to Frankfurt with stopover at Dammam
We reached our gate and our flight was already there, deplaning incoming passengers.
To much joy, it was an Al Maha Airways aircraft as I expected, A7-LAG to be precise.
There was enough time left for boarding so I looked around for some spotting…
…and I found someone familiar. Mihin Lanka, our own low-cost carrier and the only direct service from Colombo to this airport.
An Air India A320 also joins the party.
Boarding commenced with 40 mins to departure.
Boarding through the small business class section.
Nice leather seats.
The seat pitch was tight with my knees touching the seat pocket. I'm only 5'9.
No IFE!
MJ216 for Colombo pushed back and ready for taxiing.
The flight is almost full tonight. As there are no screens, crew performed the safety demonstration manually.
Cabin lights dimmed for departure.
All passengers aboard and we started to push back with 10 mins to departure.
We took off from runway 30L and took eastward turn to fly over the ocean.
Like in the onward flight, crew did a quick orange juice / water run as we were climbing. I couldn't take a picture of it.
We could only reach 14000 ft before starting to descent.
We touched down in Doha with only 40 mins of flight time.
We taxied to a remote gate where few other Al Maha aircraft were also parked.
Shot of a J Class seat taken before leaving the aircraft.
After reaching the terminal by bus, we followed the 'Transfers' signs.
Transfer check-in desks.
Unlike in the onward journey, we had to go through a security screening before entering Departure area.
The were considerable amount of people lining up for that.
By the time we joined in, queues were long but few more security lanes opened and we moved faster. Security was cleared within 10 mins.
Hope you enjoyed this small trip report and will see you again with the final episode my journey soon.
I was intrigued by Al Maha aircraft that I saw on the tarmac in DOH a couple days ago (Flight Report to be posted). Now I know more about them.
Thanks for sharing !
Thanks for your feedback!
Thanks for this report !
You are welcome!
Thank you for sharing this FR with us!
The seat pitch looks very tight, thankfully this flight was very short.
Have a good one, see you!
Yes, it was ok for a short hop like this but I can't imagine how passengers can sit like that in longer journeys.
Thank You for your feedback. See ya!
