Hi all, this is a long overdue report flying back from Asahikawa Airport in Hokkaido to Tokyo Haneda Airport back in 2014. After spending a week in Hokkaido, I would fly JL back to HND before connecting to HKG for a 3 day stay. The outbound sector can be viewed in the link below.

Time to fly back to Tokyo. I wait for the shuttle bus to Asahikawa Airport which has a schedule in accordance with the flight schedule at AKJ.
JAL Check-in Counters. This will be a full load to HND.
JAL's daily flight schedule to HND.
Walking back outside to snap pictures of the terminal building after checking-in and receiving my boarding pass.
I head to the observation deck for a quick view before I clear security procedures.
My plane getting prepped for the return journey to Tokyo
I prepare to enter the boarding gate.
Goodbye Asahikawa as I board the plane.
Class J seats which would cost just JPY 1000 more if you book on JAL website. Mine was an award ticket so probably another time.
Wing shot.
Items in the seat pocket. Airsickness bag, safety card, duty free shopping and JAL domestic magazine all in Japanese.
Preparing for takeoff.
Farewell Asahikawa.
Southbound
I go on a walk around the aircraft mid-flight. Today's flight is operated by Captain Hoya.
Deboarding from remote stand and bussed to the terminal.

I'm speechless... it's so beautiful!
Now I know where I want to go when I visit Japan.
Let's see what airbnb has for Asahikawa...
Booking.com has rather cheap hotels in Asahikawa too, or visit Shiretoko Peninsula in Eastern Hokkaido
Another case of a bonus which is more interesting than the flight story itself :)
Nice shark whale livery spotted in HND, though.
More accurately, Japan has 4 natural World Heritage sites (and also 15 cultural ones).
Thanks for sharing !
PS : the flight should be referenced JL1100
Oops I forgot about the 15 sites haha, my bad. Looking to do up another FR on a visit to Wakkanai soon. Thanks.
