Review of SWISS flight from Singapore to Zurich in Economy

This LX flight from SIN-ZRH is the first leg of my trip to Havana from SIN via ZRH.
However, I was so impressed by the second leg ZRH-HAV by Edelweiss that I put up the FR first.
Edelweiss is the charter/leisure arm of Swiss, hence I wasn’t expecting much. However, while its inflight service by their FAs and seats were well on par with Swiss, their inflight meals and IFE surpass LX. Anyways, let’s get back to this Swiss flight from SIN-ZRH I took in early Dec.
The travel (and political) news have been abuzz with Cuba in late 2014 since the normalization of ties between US and Cuba.
So with all this hype, thought I make this trip before the throngs of tourist start invading the place.
As aviation enthusiast, I’m sure you’d know why that no way was I going to take any US carriers (yes, AA flies to Havana). So that leaves the European ones. I’ve tried LH, AF and KL long haul and let’s say it’s just… meh… So, that leaves with Swiss. I’ve flown LX right after its reincarnation from SR and had good memories of it even on their short SIN-BKK route they used to fly ZRH-BKK-SIN. In mid 2015, good pal flyguysg flew LX and had good recommendation for it. So, that made up my mind to get on LX to HAV.
Swiss flies from Changi T2. Check-in was quick with thorough scrutiny of my Cuban tourist visa by the intrigued check-in staff. Flight was to depart at 2330 and boarding was called at 2310. With Swiss punctuality, by 2330 cabin PA announced all pax were on board and to close a/c doors. Welcome announcements were made in German, English and French followed by safety video. The a/c did not move while all these took place… not a good sign. Then Captain came on PA stating that due to bad weather over India, they had to redo their flight plans and get approval. That’s true… that evening, Southern India faced very heavy storms and rain and caused a few flights to and from Chennei to be cancelled from SIN. FA quickly got up and started serving pax water. They also passed a basket with Swiss signature chocolates. So we were delayed from 2330 to almost 0045 when we finally took off. All this while the Captain gave updates almost every 20min. Pax with connections were also informed that LX ground staff will settle their next forward flight. All announcements to this delay were professionally done and all queries from worried pax very well attended. No drama or fuss.
Flight was uneventful and smooth with a late supper and breakfast service before arriving in ZRH about 0730.

Seat opposite me while waiting for pax to board. Almost 100% full in economy.

Left it to chance and Was fortunate to get the forward mini economy cabin just behind C class without a fee.
It would have cost about $25USD to pre-book a seat in this cabin.

Felt exclusive in this cabin. Didn't feel like the usual back of the bus.

Meal carts rolled up about 1 hr after take off.
No drink service prior. It's good to get late dinner served as soon as possible due to the delay and let pax sleep.

Choice of dinner veg pasta or curry chicken with rice.

Veg pasta was surprisingly good. Came with Swiss ham with coleslaw,mousse dessert, hard roll, swiss cheese and drinks (soft, juices, wines, and Swiss beers)

Snacks available at the galley. Drinks, chocolate bars, pretzels, bread sticks and packet soup.
FAs on duty were very helpful in assisting with the drinks and preparing hot soup.

2 hours to arrival, time to wake up the cabin.
No mood lights, so cabin lights glaringly switched on.
FAs served hot towels before breakfast cart rolled up.
No choice hot breakfast.

Cheese omelette with bacon and hash brown potatoes. Came with yogurt, fresh fruits, soft roll, coffee and tea.
Nothing inspiring, but at least a nice hot breakfast (some airlines would give a cold breakfast box with muffin and oj).

Had a wonderful flight.
