Hello everyone!
First I would like to apologize for the poor quality of my pictures taken with an iPhone.
I didn't think I would make a flight report but since I was very impressed with the E+ product on United Airlines, I decided to post this report in order to review the best seat that UA has to offer on their 777s in Economy Plus.
I chose seat 20K, which is in the first row after the BusinessFirst section.

It is also the only row where you only have two seats in stead of three as well as unlimited legroom.
I am Star Alliance Silver, which allowed me to benefit from Premier Access (fast check-in at the BusinessFirst/Global First desk and priority boarding). United is one of the only airlines to offer such privileges to Star Alliance Silver members.

I was among the first passengers to board the plane and it is truly amazing to board an empty economy cabin. Plenty of time to put all your stuff where you need to.

The seat has A LOT of legroom. I would say row 20 in E+ has as much legroom as seats from the BusinessFirst section)
(this picture has been taken after the 8 hours 40 mins flight, that's why the pillow is in this condition)

As a comparision here is what you get in BusinessFirst, check the number of windows per seat to have an idea.

Here is what you can see from row 20 in E+.

I was truly amazed, I have flown UA E+ before (row 25) and the difference is HUGE. I spent 120$ extra dollars on this seat and it was really really worth it.

A gentleman quickly arrived and sat next to me. As the E+ section of the plane was pretty empty, he decided to move forward to row 19, which is in the middle section of the E+ cabin, leaving seat 20J empty.
Here is the legroom he experienced there …

… which is also good but I definitely wanted a window seat.

We took off on time.

A meal was served pretty quickly, I do not have any picture of it but it is the same meal as in Economy. Not good but not bad either.
What I like the most is that seating in row 20 with no one next to you makes you able to use the two tray tables, which is very comfortable if you are a messy person as I am

I was also able to use seat 20J monitor not to be bothered by my own one and get some space while working over the atlantic.

Being able to use both tray tables really felt like heaven since I had to take some notes according to documents on my laptop (which is a big MacBook Pro 17) and I was able to do so with a lot of space.

I could stand up and go to the toilet without bothering anyone. The rest of Economy and Economy + feels a little tight in comparison..

Prior to landing we had a little snack, once again, much appreciated with two tables.

Approach into Dulles.

Quick taxi to the gate

I got a United Club pass from a friend, the lounge at IAD was literally empty.

The food and drinks were quite poor but the seats were ok.

As a summary, if you are willing to travel in Economy Plus on a United Airlines 777, do chose those seats in the front row, especially seat 20K.
It was my best flight in economy. I paid 450$ for the return flight + 120$ extra dollars for upgrading to E+, total 570$ return flight BRU-IAD.
A total bargain for the service.
Great FR. Thanks for sharing. It's nice to know that E+ seats in United are comfortable.
Thanks for this FR.
E+ of UA is very is verry good, because of this price.
In BusinessFirst, you can have a quite flat seat so the difference is quite big ^^
And nearly every silver *A statute offers fast check-in in Biz check-in and priority boarding and more whit the airline lounge acces, I was SN silver and I had the same advantages with SN and LH :)
Great report, thanks a lot!
Thanks for sharing this FR.
Comparing Y+ to J based solely on seat pitch is pretty misleading. I personally avoid bulkheads because you can’t fully extend your legs (evidenced by you sitting sideways). You got lucky with a fairly empty cabin; a full Y+ cabin would be a different experience. $120 seems low for Y+ and is obviously worth it in this situation having an empty cabin. The Asian upgrades are usually closer to $200, which is a rip off. I also find the IFE in the bulkhead seats to be smaller.
Next time catering pictures please :)
