This flight was very enjoyable to say the least. After getting off the A319 from Manchester we quickly and easily connected from T5A to T5B. With an hour till departure we looked around the many shops in the spacious T5 and were back at the gate before boarding.
I looked outside and was amazed by the size of the 747s, they never fail to impress me.
Once we boarded we were kindly welcomed by the flight attendants at the door and were guided to our seats. I made my way through the plane to row 33 and sat down. First impressions of the seat was good, although they were the old seats they were very comfortable. The headrest was adjustable up and down and the sides also moved in for extra comfort. On the seats was a medium sized cushion and a large blanket. Boarding was done quickly but we had to hold for 20 minutes due to a small technical issue, this was quickly sorted out. The door was closed and we were pushed back.
pictures of the cabin

The seat material was soft and although old the IFE still had on demand movies and TV programmes.
The engines started, the safety demo was shown and we quickly taxied to the runway with no more delays.
The engines spooled up and we were on our way to New York.
Shortly after take off a drinks run was done and we were given a small pack of tasty pretzels. I had lemonade to drink.
After about an hour in the air the meals were served. It was breaded chicken with mash, it tasted very good and was better than I expected as usually I do not enjoy airplane meals.
The flight went by quickly and before I knew it we were over Canada.

An hour before landing afternoon tea was served which consisted of sandwiches with a biscuit and a drink, I didn't get a picture.
The next part of the flight was the best experience ever for me on an aircraft. The approach and landing into JFK was incredible please watch the video, lots of last minute turns and amazing views made it highly enjoyable. After landing I even got to visit the flight deck!
Thank you very much for taking the time to read.
I will hopefully be posting my return journey on BAs newly refurbished 777 soon.
Thank you for sharing this FR. And I agree with you, Boeing 747 is always impressive.
Thanks for commenting, the 747 is one of the best aircraft in my opinion.
Thanks for sharing with us!
The 747 still the best plane ever for me. I always enjoy flying with this aircraft and like you they never fail to impress me.
I like this old seat, I feel very confortable, better than the new seat.
I took the same flight last year to go to NYC, so he remember me some nice memories :)
See you !
Thank you for commenting I really enjoyed this flight on the 747.
Thanks for this FR.
Though the IFE is old fashionned, the seats remain confortable.
Was your meal a special meal? It seems to have more items than what BA usally serves.
Yes the meal was a children's meal as I wasn't sure if I would enjoy the adult meals, it arrived with more snacks.
Thank you for sharing,
This IFE looks terribly old...
Amazing approach, not a very classic one.
See you!
Thanks for commenting, the approach was great.
Thanks for the FR! The Queen is always majestic, glad BA is keeping these B747s active (for the time being). I agree with the others, the meal tray does look fuller than I’ve seen on other BA reports. IFE could be updated, but that would also require a seat update (which would not improve comfort). If the weather is good, landing in the NY area is always a treat.
Not sure if I would consider Sprite to be “lemonade,” but to each their own ;)
Thanks for taking the time to read my report. The meal was a children's meal as I'm still a teenager so I decided it might be better than the adult meals. The food was actually similar but it came with more snacks. Apparently the 747s are getting a renovation to upgrade the IFE systems and to include new seats with USB sockets.
