LGW - BCN BA2710 Y / AIRBUS A319-100 - 03/07/2015: http://flight-report.com/en/report-10737.html
I went along my dad to London to check out and visit some universities where I consider studying in the future so these days perfectly fit with some Open Days and visits to universities in the UK.
When we booked the tickets, BA was the cheapest option and with the advantages of flying to Gatwick and having good departure and arrival times. Ryanair (to STN), EasyJet (to LGW, SEN, STN, LTN) and Vueling (to LGW) were more expensive so it was a no-brainer for us.
We arrived at the airport around 2 hours before our scheduled departure time, passing through security controls was a breeze because the airport wasn't too crowded, I was surprised bearing in mind it was a summer day. I took some pictures of a Qatar Airways A330-300.
Here are some more pictures of Vueling A320s and a Singapore B777-300 bound for Sao Paulo.
We were assigned departure gate D16 which is in Area D, in the upper floor of Terminal 1. I had never been in this area, partly because I had never flown on a Oneworld airline since the opening of T1. Here is a picture of T1 from the upper floor.
We started boarding 20 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. Boarding was kind of confusing because there were 3 lines for 3 different flights to Singapore, Philadelphia and ours to Gatwick.
Took a picture of the SIA 777-300 before boarding my plane.
I then saw our plane for the first time since from the gate I wasn't able to do so, it was G-DBCD, a 10.4 year old ex-BMI Airbus A319-100 painted with the Olympic Dove livery.

This is a picture from my emergency seat row (10F), we had another BA, an A320 bound for London Heathrow.
The legroom was very generous as we were in the emergency seat row, I managed to grab seats in this row checking in online 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure time without any charge.

Taxi towards the runway was very long as to reach runway 25L from the Oneworld area, the pilot had to taxi across the whole Terminal T1.
KLM B737-800 with the retro livery.
Waiting to line up with the runway.
Lining up with runway 25L.
V1, rotate. Positive climb, gear up. Views of Terminal 1 shortly after rotating.
Views of the Catalan coast after banking towards the sea after take off.
Views of Barcelona Airport.
Again some pictures of the great legroom in row 10.
Views of the BA A319 cabin.
Views of France cruising at 36000 ft.

We were served a roast beef sandwich and a drink, I ordered some water.

We started our descent before crossing the English Channel.

Descending towards Gatwick, around the area of Chichester.
Last turn to line up with the runway.
Landed in London-Gatwick. Spoilers deployed.
Taxiing in Gatwick Airport with a BA Airbus A319.
Passing under the famous Gatwick bridge.
Our A319 parked right next to a BA Boeing 777-200.
I asked a flight attendant if I could take some pictures of the cockpit and I was allowed to do so. Both the flight attendants, the pilot and first officer were very helpful and told me to ask anything I wanted to know about airplanes, very helpful BA crew!
That's all I hope you've enjoyed this FR!
You should really check the first two lines of your report. I believe you mixed something up there.
Very exciting the Gatwick bridge! Do widebodys fit underneath it?
Yes, at 34m high it is tall enough for a B747 to pass under.
