This trip report details my trip from Shanghai to Kuala Lumpur.
Driving up to PVG.
I really like the wave-shape roof structure of PVG.
MH uses Terminal 2 at PVG whereas MU, AF, KL and JL uses Terminal 1.
Didn't take any photos of the check in but checkin was smooth and quick.
For some reason, online check in isn't really popular in China and there were only 2 people before me using the Online Check in counter.
Some plane spotting before boarding.
PVG has a wide-range of planes from Europe and the Americas compared to KUL.
VN in the foreground with HO in the background
NZ 787-9 in All black livery taking off. Unfortunately I couldn't get a better angle
OZ 747 prepping for her trip to ICN
SQ 380 with another SQ 330 in the background.
SQ operates 5 flights a day to PVG with SQ386 being operates by the A380.
MH currently operates only 2 flights a day to PVG and is planning to cut the red eye to PVG :(
UA 772 preparing to take off to EWR.
I wasn't able to get a good picture of my plane. But here's the MH A330 that will take me to KUL.
Boarding was conducted in an orderly fashion with many of the passengers
heading onwards to the Indian Sub-Continent.
I think there was a tour group heading back to DAC.
View from the wing. UA, OZ and SQ in the background.
Two passengers did not board the plane and their baggage had to be offloaded. We missed our takeoff slot and had to wait close to 90 minutes for another one to open up.
Legroom shot. Y seats on the A330 are 32 inches with 9 abreast as is the norm.
I'm only 5'4, so the seat was quite spacious for me.
The 34 inch seat on MH 772 is downright luxurious for me :P.
UA 87 to EWR departed and was replaced by an AA 77w.
At around 5pm, we started preparing for takeoff. CA, EY and ET planes in the background.
AF A380 landing.
AF operates the A380 to PVG 4 times a week.
LH, EK and SQ all operate daily A380 flight to PVG.
View as we ascend to the skies :D
IFE is a decent size but selection was meh.
MH always has 5 random episodes of each TV show which only works if you're watching comedies but not much for dramas or for shows with continuity.
There also seemed to be a higher amounts of ads compared to my last MH flight.
Touchscreen was also unresponsive but the remote worked fine.
The passenger in front of me needed the FA's assistance to change the IFE's language to Chinese and the FA was quite snooty while dealing with the Chinese passenger. The FA also didn't change the IFE system to Chinese but just showed the passenger where the Chinese movies were.
Unused tissue from the previous flight :
Meal service started about 90 minutes after we were in the air.
Signature kacang masin (salted peanuts) from MH.
Meal choice was between rice+chicken and seafood noodles.
I choose the rice with chicken which was actually quite delicious for ex-PVG catering - probably the meal I've had on MH in a while.
Sun setting.
I don't have any more pictures after this as I fell asleep after the meal service and didn't wake up till we reached the gate.
Welcome and thanks for sharing your first FR.
If I might add a small suggestion please try to straighten out some of your pictures next time. Otherwise nice captures and good spotting.
See you on your next trip.
