Hope you enjoyed this FR :)
Seems you went to the airport a while before your due time...did you have a good time in the meanwhile? I found SCL to be a dump.
How long is that flight? basically one crosses the whole continent! The food looks OK, what about service?
Nice pictures of Valpo and Viña del Mar!
Thanks for sharing this FR!
Thanks Chibcha. The airport as you said looks a bit dated and old, the check in hall was nicer than the airside. They really should upgrade their furniture.
The flight was very long, it was 11 hours long but the old cabin of AC 767 are very comfortable so you don't get bothered and the service was good and FA's were very nice :)
Thanks for sharing with us !
AC services look like soso... But still correct and much better than cross atlantic flight ^^
I want to go to Chile ! Maybe next year :)
Your bonus pictures looks so nice :)
Wich part did you visit ? Only Santiago ?
Thanks so much Smilano. I only visited Santiago and Valparaiso area. Chile is nice and you'll enjoy it for sure when you visit :)
Thank you for this report and the touristic bonus with beautiful colors !
This is such a looooong red-eye flight :/
Thanks so much Padawan. Im glad you liked the pictures. Yes, it's a very long flight but I'm glad it was night all along as it's more comfortable for sleeping :)
Thanks for sharing another retro-report, I know I'm a late arrival!
The SCL check-in hall looks really nice (unfortunately airside looks like every other airport...).
TAM departing
- Rainy tarmacs always make for dramatic photography. Very nice spotting at SCL, H2 (Sky Airline) is a new one for me, but a very interesting livery.
Map of Chile
- I thought this was a map of Cuba at first glance given the shape, but then I noticed they just turned the country sideways to make it more print friendly.
It looks like you had a really old cabin on this plane, old style overhead bins and smaller IFE. But two hot meals is very good service. The breakfast (pancakes) look very 'exploded', lol, too much maple syrup?
Flying above Pittsburgh
- You can even see where all the rivers meet in the center, nice shot.
As always, your reports have very beautiful bonuses. I really want to go to South America, but unfortunately it is not very accessible from northern Asia!
Thank you NG085. I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures :)
Yes, the SCL check in hall is very nice but airside is very old looking.
Yes, The TAM departure in rain was very interesting.
The cabin of the plane was very old for sure with old overhead bins. But the seats were very comfortable.
I wish the pic of Pittsburgh would turn out better but it is still not bad and very cool to see all the three rivers.
Thanks for this new (old) report with lots of great photos as always. SCL looks pretty nice overall and your spotting there is very nice! It's funny to see 763s with no winglets--not really used to seeing that anymore. Beautiful bonus pics--what a beautiful country. I've been meaning to plan a trip to Chile for a while as I have a good friend that moved to Valparaiso and I want to go down and visit. Your report has inspired me :-)
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Kevin. I'm glad you liked the pictures. Yes Chile is very nice to visit and I'm sure you will like it :)
Yes, the 767 with no winglets look very dated but I think most of them do not have it.
Excellent report. I spent nearly an hour just enjoying the pics and a special thanks for those bonus pics they really make a flight-report more context/color! If everyone files reports like this - we won't have time for Facebook and then Mark Z will be forced to buy out Flight-report :))
I have a bunch of questions but most are already answered by you in response to others' comments.
1) Did you use a SLR or these are mobile shots? If iPhone/Android, any special app or the default one?
2) Curbside is almost desolate in SCL. Why? Departure lounge is nearly empty too!??
3) Were you visiting Chile on work or vacation? (I have been to SCL twice few years back)
Thanks so much Wilmerdon. I'm very glad you liked the FR and enjoyed the pictures :)
1) I use a simple point and shoot camera, which is Sony DSC-WX100. When I take pictures I choose the pop setting under the customized shots menu. Then I slightly change the contrast, saturation and sharpness of each of my pictures, using a free but super wonderful photo editing software that is called Irfanview and you can download it for free online and it's a great software to edit your pictures :)
2) Yes the airport was not super crowded but I'm not sure why. Maybe since it was a Monday and in middle of the fall season there.
3) I was visiting Chile, Argentina and Uruguay for vacation. You can see all my other flight reports by clicking on my username and you can check them out. I hope you like them :)
