11 April was our last day in Delhi, we visited a few monuments during this day, and I also did some spotting from the Qutub Minar, apparently one of the main approach lines was over the Qutub Minar. Overall, I had a really great experience in India, felt better to be here than I expected. This was my father's third time in Delhi, he had previously been here in 1988 and late 2004/early 2005. A lot of things had changed, according to him.
Did some spotting at approximately 17:30 (5:30 PM), sorry for the bad lighting.
SriLankan A321 coming in as UL195 from Colombo
Dedicated to NGO85, JL B788 coming in from Tokyo-Narita
Went to the hotel to freshen up after 15 minutes of spotting, we left the hotel at 21:05.

Never knew there was a McDonald's just 5 minutes from our hotel.

We arrived at Terminal 3 of Delhi International Airport approximately 50 minutes after we left the hotel.

The airport was very clean and modern.

FIDS.

Lufthansa check-in counters. There were a few agents waiting outside the lines to assist people. One of them kindly asked us (with a friendly smile) if we were flying with Lufthansa and what class, my father said economy and they directed us to the line even though I already knew where it was.

Check-in was very smooth, the agent at the desk was very friendly. My father asked him if there were any window seats available on the next leg (MUC-ARN). He said that he would fix two seats next to each other for us, one window seat and the other one next to it. He also asked us if we were taking the flight to MUC or FRA, I wish we would connect at FRA, as that flight is operated by the A388!

Security was a bit slow but immigration was very efficient.

Delhi duty free.

Quite a delay for Air China.

A bit of spotting at DEL.

Both of us were quite hungry so we decided to eat something light at McDonald's before going to the gate (Gate 7).

It wasn't very easy to spot through these windows, here's our A333 coming in from Munich.

To all you French people out there, Air France Airbus A330-203 getting ready for a flight to Paris CDG.

United Airlines Boeing 777-224(ER) getting ready for a flight to Newark.
And of course, our lovely Lufthansa A330-343 getting ready for a flight to Munich.

British Airways Boeing 777-236(ER) coming in from London LHR.
Eventually it was time for boarding, first, business and star gold passengers boarded first and then the rest.

Boarding was very efficient and on-time.

Bad weather at Delhi, with rain and thunderstorms in the area. We actually experienced the same weather when we came to Delhi on LH762.

The new IFE! This particular plane (D-AIKN) is a refurbished one with the new cabin. The plane was very clean and fresh. This new RAVE IFE was very sleek, really like the look of it. The new IFE and the clean plane provided with a better atmosphere in the cabin during this flight. The IFE also had a USB port and was decent when it came to response. Speaking about the IFE, there was an Indian man on one of the middle seats of our row and he didn't understand how to use the IFE. The flight attendants quickly came to assist him but his english-speaking skills weren't the best. The flight attendants (there were 3 of them assisting him) came with a Hindi speaking flight attendant from the business class cabin to assist him. She slowly explained exactly how to use the IFE, step by step. That took about 10 or 15 minutes. They also later explained all the buttons and how to call them if he needs assistance in the future.

Seat pitch was decent on this 8 hours 15 minutes flight.

The negative thing about this IFE was the content. The content was almost the same as the previous flight on the old A346. They really need to add more content to their IFE.

Safety card.

Load factor was about 80% in economy and around 75% in business, I have no idea about first class.

They handed out these water bottles after boarding was completed, I was very thirsty so I drank it right away.

Taxiing to the runway, while this safety video is being shown.
Takeoff from Delhi.
The IFE was shut down during takeoff, they restarted it again a few minutes after takeoff.

The moving map showed different types of views, but you couldn't actually choose what view you wanted. It just rotated through them. I had turned off my IFE and I was too lazy to turn it on, therefore these photos are from my dad's IFE. He also likes to watch the moving map.

They served a snack approximately 55 minutes after takeoff. There were two options, chicken or vegetarian. I went with the chicken option. Most passengers were asleep at this point, not many of them ate it. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture without the cover. It was a bad industrial version of a croissant with small pieces of chicken inside. The snack was accompanied with OJ and a glass of water. It was very tasty, more tasty than expected. However I was quite full at this time, as I had ate at McDonald's earlier. I didn't eat the whole snack as a result. On a sidenote, the flight attendants were very friendly, attentive, helpful and proffesional as on the previous flights.

Hot towels were also distributed.

Not a lot happened on this flight, it was a red-eye flight so most passengers were asleep.

I tried to sleep when there was 4 hours left, even though there was a screaming baby on the middle row next to us.

I managed to get 2 hours and 30 minutes of sleep, they served us breakfast 1 hour and 30 minutes before arrival. The meals were served exactly when I woke up, my eyes were extremely red and I really had to visit the lavatory to freshen up.

I came back to my seat and found this on my tray table. I have no idea what the other option was or if there even was another option.

The breakfast consisted of an omelette with chicken and potato wedges, a yogurt, a cake, a bread bun, a fruit salad and a drink service. I went with orange juice and a cup of tea. I don't like to eat breakfast on planes but this wasn't that bad. The main course was great. The omelette was decent, the chicken wasn't dry which was good. The potato wedges were quite juicy and tasty. The yogurt was decent, had actually consumed the same in Delhi before. I don't remember but I don't think I tasted the cake, I don't think I was hungry at that time. The bread bun wasn't cold this time, which was good. The fruit salad was pretty tasteless. In conclusion, the meal was not bad.

Flying next to some city.

Landing at Munich, exactly on-time. Sorry for messing up with the focus. I couldn't see anything from the camera's viewfinder. I wasn't able to identify the wing until we touched down when there was a little bit of light.
Right after vacating the runway.

Taxiing to our gate.

Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-300ER at Munich.
I guess that is it for this flight, hope you enjoyed this FR :).
Note: Can't comment on access and parking at MUC, just left a 7,5.
Excellent FR with amazing pictures. Thank you :)
Thank you for your nice comment :).
Thanks for sharing another amazing FR with us :)
Red-eyes are not the easiest of flights to report since it is night the whole time, but you made up for it with your spotting at DEL.
What was the second plane (between AI and 9W)?
Went to the hotel to freshen up after 15 minutes of spotting
- Already too hot in India for the Scandinavians?
Dedicated to NGO85, JL B788 coming in from Tokyo-Narita
- Thank you for the dedication, but alas I have never flown JL before, I'm a NH person ;)
DEL looks like a very nice, modern airport from your photos.
Quite a delay for Air China.
- That delay isn't too bad for CA standards, you should read about Numero_2's CA adventure.
They handed out these water bottles after boarding was completed
- Is this normal protocol for LH? I feel like I've seen it on some long-haul reports, but not others.
The catering on this route looks correct with a late night snack and then a pre-arrival breakfast, although a 5:30am arrival hurts! The breakfast looked good for airline standards, a very full tray. It's nice that you had chicken to go along with the omelet, usually it's just an omelet with potatoes.
The IFE on this flight looks much better with a crisper screen and it sounds like you have a good experience with LH so far with respect to their crews.
Thank you for your nice comment once again :)
The second plane was a Vistara A320, it's a new airline that commenced operations on 9 January 2015.
Oh, we weren't there for just 15 minutes. We had actually been out for many hours since morning, I only spotted there for 15 minutes as my father wanted to be at the hotel at 18:00 (6 pm) to freshen up and relax before our flight. My parents are actually grown up with similar weather in Bangladesh and other parts of India. I have actually visited Bangladesh four times (3 times during summer) so I'm quite used to these weather conditions.
Oh, good to know! I actually saw an NH B763 taxiing past us at DEL but unfortunately didn't take a picture.
Yeah, I'm pretty aware of CA's numerous delays but I just wanted to write something for that picture.
I'm not sure, the same thing occured to me on another flight but it wasn't a long-haul flight.
The food was fine, the breakfast was great, if I compare to breakfasts served on my previous flights with other airlines.
Yes, never thought the crew would be so nice on these flights so far, let's see if they keep it up with the service on part 4.
Thank you for sharing this exciting report. It's nice to go with someone who knows the place well.
LH provided a solid experience on this flight and it's always great to fly with a friendly crew. Good thing that you were on an updated plane. The breakfast looks very satisfying.
Thank you for your nice comment :)
I'm very satisfied with LH, the overall service was much better than expected.
Thanks for sharing another comprehensive report. Though not as exciting as taking an A346, it was nice that you got a new cabin with new IFE (even if the content is not so great). Would you say that this new seat is the same as the one you had on the way over comfort-wise? It always makes the experience even better when you have a good crew. An attentive crew on a redeye flight is not that common. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for your nice comment!
The seat pitch was about the same as on the A346 (felt like so). I can imagine the pitch being quite uncomfortable for taller people (I'm 177cm, almost 5'10 I guess), but I do have quite long legs. This seat was just slightly more comfortable, but not a lot more (maybe 5% more comfortable). I was able to get some sleep on this seat, usually I'm never able to sleep in economy. The headrests are new which might be a bit more comfortable for some people. The armrest is also a new one which isn't a postive thing IMO. It's thinner and I didn't like the feeling of it when I placed my arm on it.
